RAISING AWARENESS.
The WOMEN’S WORLD AWARDS was founded in 2004 together with the global initiative WOMEN’S WORLD FORUM, an international platform intent on addressing the various needs of women all over the world.

The WOMEN’S WORLD FORUM strives to raise awareness for the particular problems women face in order to create a network for organizations, companies, universities, schools, political parties and associations to promote and implement gender equality at all levels. By extending this exchange-network for social, economic, political and cultural bodies, gender issues can be addressed more adequately and specifically.

With the WOMEN’S WORLD AWARDS the WOMEN’S WORLD FORUM acknowledges the achievements of exceptional individuals and organizations, which are currently leading by example in promoting gender equality.

GOALS OF THE WOMEN’S WORLD FORUM.
The goals of the Forum are:

• Promote the freedom and equality of women as matter of dignity and human rights; moreover – as the basis for social, economic, cultural and political justice.
• Raise the awareness of particular problems women face by supporting the right of self-determination, gender equality, freedom and the elimination of all forms of social and economic discrimination.
• Strengthen the empowerment of women in order to facilitate their full participation on the basis of equality in all spheres of society, including involvement in the decision-making process and access to power.
• Foster awareness by both men and women for gender specific themes and problems including the access to economic assets, the freedom from fear and violence and an equal share of children, sick and elderly-care.
• Focus on diversity, because no two women need the same support.
• Build bridges between women living in wealthy nations and those living in developing countries by confronting globalization issues affecting women in the poorest countries of the world.
• Promote the recognition and strengthen the reputation of the outstanding work done by various organizations and associations by providing access to the global media.
• Highlight women’s contributions to the progress of women’s related issues, peace, social and economical welfare.
  

STRONG INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS.
In 2004 a WOMEN’S WORLD CONGRESS was held for the first time in conjunction with the WOMEN’S WORLD AWARDS presentation in Hamburg, Germany. The congress will serve as an international platform in order to strengthen the capacity and leadership of women’s organizations and networks.

The WOMEN’S WORLD CONGRESS and WOMEN’S WORLD FORUM have cooperated with numerous international institutions and organizations such as UNIFEM, CARE, DED, TERRE DES FEMMES, BICC and the GORBACHEV FOUNDATION. A host of internationally renowned personalities and experts, active in a diverse variety of areas are brought together to discuss the current problems women face from different economic, political and cultural perspectives as well as to seek solutions.

The objective of the WOMEN’S WORLD AWARDS and the WOMEN’S WORLD FORUM is to transcend territorial, cultural and social borders in order to disseminate a global message:
